Now you can play 'Dumb ways to die'

dumb ways to die gamedumb ways to die gameFollowing on from the success of its 'Dumb ways to die' campaign for Melbourne Metro, McCann Australia has produced an iPhone and iPad game built along the same idea.

The game, developed in collaboration with local developer Barrel Of Donkeys, has been the No. 1 free app in Australia for a week, and is charting in 79 other countries.

The concept of turning the viral advert into a game was to continue to encourage younger people to be careful around trains, and avoid dying in a dumb way, as you try to save the characters from the video from their fate.

The game is free from itunes.

Immersive app for exhibition

Exhibition AppExhibition PieceThe British Museum has released an app to coincide with its latest exhibition; Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum.

The app gives users the chance to browse the 250 exhibits on display at the museum as well exploring maps of the area where these ancient cities sat in the Bay of Naples.

Built by mobile app developer Apadmi, it also contains exclusive video content including interviews with the curator.

It was created to help those who may not be able to attend the exhibition in person due to its popularity, to explore the sights, sounds and artifacts.

The exhibition curator Paul Roberts said: “We are delighted to invite tablet and smart phone users all over the world to explore the content of our Life and Death in Pompeii and Herculaneum exhibition. Good clear explanations and beautiful, detailed images of the remarkable objects offer an exciting opportunity to investigate the stories of these cities in the pail of your hand.”

The app is available now for iPad, iPhone and will be on android devices from May 2nd, whilst the exhibition is running until the 28th September 2013.

Print ads that come to life

Lexus CinePrintLooking for a way to bring your advertising to life then take a look at this print ad for Lexus. With a little help from an iPad the ad comes to life.

Lexus developed a special technology for this that it's calling "CinePrint."

"Most traditional mashups feature print ads that redirect to a digital experience away from the printed page," the automaker says. "CinePrint technology flips that on its head, creating a tactile and visceral connection that brings one closer to the printed page with a multi-sensory experience that combines sight, sound and touch."

Take a look at the film below to see how it works. Brilliant!

BMW uses interactive experience to promote 1 Series

AttachmentBMW has been running an experiential promotion across South Africa marketing its 1 Series.

The events ran in the evening across major cities with consumers invited to join in an interactive race game that was projected onto buildings and scaffolding in high traffic areas.

Using smart phones, iPhones and iPads gamers logged on to Facebook and competed against each other using their devices. The winners were immediately posted to the Facebook page and a league of the fastest gamers publicised.

There were 810 campaign Facebook posts, so with a Facebook user having an average of 130 friends, it is estimated that more than 105,000 users were exposed to the campaign through Facebook alone.

It looks like great fun was had by all, with consumers engaging with the brand and new technology. See a video of the event below:

'Showrooms' app launched for New York

showrooms-iphone-app.jpgIf you are heading off to New York then Designer Pages has the app for you. They have launched an app called Showrooms that helps you to quickly locate architecture and interior design products and materials across the city. Find that showroom you’re looking for and map it, create itineraries for your visits, curate lists of showrooms to share with friends, and even check in using Foursquare. They plan on expanding to other cities in the future. They have even added a scavenger hunt at Architectural Digest Home Show in New York next week. Can't wait for the London version.

The iPad 2: More to it, less of it

iPad2.jpg'There's even more to it. And even less of it' appears to be the tagline for the new iPad2.

This new version is faster, 33 per cent thinner, and “up to” 15 per cent lighter than the original iPad, while boasting the same 9.7-inch LCD screen. Steve Jobs believes Apple to be ore on top of their game than ever before claiming 'While others have been scrambling to copy the first generation iPad, we’re launching iPad 2, which moves the bar far ahead of the competition and will likely cause them to go back to the drawing boards yet again.” Will this bold statement be proved correct in sale numbers? Let's watch this space.

Bone Collection: Dino Drives, Card Cases and Wonderful Wraps

DinoDrive.jpgAs Design Director of Bone Collection Reads Lin puts it, 'don't just think different, be different,' a comment in direct response to Steve Jobs' (Chief Executive of Apple) motto of 'think different.'

We at the Think Tank are rather big fans of all things 'different' and Lin and his team have created some seriously cool, yet practical, 'things different.' What better way to protect your pad/pod/phone than with a unique and seriously cool case? What better device to entrust with the storing of all your most vital information than a dino usb drive?

Cool Hunting have also cottoned on to just how cool these are and clever in their ability to set themselves apart from the $1b+ industry for apple accessories too. Click here to find out where to buy your quirky added extras from and set yourself apart from everyone else now.
