Misuse of Social Media in the Workplace

Social MediaWhat would you do if an employee (or even a manager) made disparaging remarks on Facebook about your organisation, employees or key contacts?

In conjunction with The Think Tank, one of our legal associates is holding a seminar which looks at the 'Misuse of Social Media in the Workplace.

They comment, 'Almost every organisation will face the "Social Media test" at some point. That is, an employee - possibly thinking that they are talking only to 'friends' by way of Facebook, Twitter etc - will make comments which are highly damaging to its interests or the reputations and rights of key stakeholders.

Whilst there appears to be no binding legal authorities from the higher courts there are a number of Employment Tribunal decisions, and we have carefully pulled together some of the key issues and guidance from Employment Judges.'

The briefing is organised by GT Employment Lawyers on 21st June between 2pm and 4pm at Liverpool Street, London, EC2M and will cover the following topics:

Investigating misuse

How to reconcile human rights issues such as 'freedom of expression' and 'privacy' with those of your organisation.

Handy tips from an IT specialist on how to monitor this kind of problem at work or even stop it altogether.

Delegates will be given a checklist to audit their systems and a specimen policy as well as detailed user-friendly notes and contacts in related fields.

The cost is £35 plus vat per delegate or £55 plus vat for 2 places. Places are limited and allocated in order of payment.

To book a place (or if you would like the presentation at your organisation on a more private basis) please contact Gordon Turner via his PA Sandra at email address sandra@gtelaw.co.uk

Frozen landscape for Moones video

Moones
We don't usually feature music videos on our blog but this one by the Moones for their single Better Energy is great fun.

If you thought that the UK was cold at the moment then this will make you feel warmer with icebergs, electric eels, frozen sailors and more.

Turn up the volume and enjoy.

Rinsing ToothbrushHere's a great gadget called The Rinser, a toothbrush by Amron that features a tunnel and spout design that redirects the flow of water to provide a fountain when placed under the tap.

A great little innovation that saves you sticking your head under the tap!

Looks like it is only available in the US at the moment but you can get it from likecool for $22.

Giving CIBSE a louder voice

CIBSEThe Think Tank is pleased to announce that we have been appointed by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) to raise their voice and profile, extending the Institution’s communications activities through PR, Public Affairs and Social Media activity.

We will be working closely with the CIBSE in-house communications team to create a series of strategies and campaigns to help in raising further awareness of the organisation with Government, opinion formers and the media, and in the use of social media channels to create further channels for dialogue.

The overall focus for 2012 is to demonstrate and communicate the organisation's depth and breadth of expertise and knowledge, and how this can help the built environment sector as a whole in the development of energy efficient buildings in a period where the UK's energy policy and usage is coming under even greater scrutiny and creating debate.

The pursuit of engineering excellence is also a core theme.

With a new look CIBSE Conference and Exhibition taking place at Olympia in October 2012, CIBSE’s 2013 prestigious Building Performance awards programme and the CIBSE/ASHRAE Young Engineers Awards, the Think Tank will be working to raise the profile of core events in CIBSE’s calendar.

The Think Tank supports many organisations within the UK and across the EMEA region in raising awareness and developing opportunities to engage with a range of stakeholders.

Tiny police chase that's genius

The Theory Speed of LightThis has to be the smallest car chase ever by The Theory.

Speed of Light is a high octane film that uses pocket projectors plus CGI editing to create a jail-break and police car chase around The Theory's studio.

An ingenious use of video and one that should go viral.

Stylish sci-fi fantasy for Perrier

Premier Drop AdvertisingPerrier Ad DropPerrier has launched a short film called 'Drop', produced by Ogilvy Paris.

The film sees a young woman attempt a mission to the sun when the temperature on the Earth reaches unbearable levels.
